My grandfather was Andarasas Piera, that’s Piera the son of Andaras. They say there’s a sort of salmon magic in my family, that we know how to get a fish to bite. I don’t care who believes it but since the jig and the old silk lures left by Andaras came into my possession, I’ve never once come away from the River Teno without a salmon.
The River Kemijoki has been the most productive salmon river in Finland. Salmon was caught with river fishing methods that were centuries old, weirs and nets. Since the 17th century, fishing house groups (kullekunta) caught fish.
