When Nilla came a courtin’

No way am I going to the highlands, I said, when they came to give a talk. There’d been some good-for-nothings buzzing around. I told ‘em, first get somewhere decent to live! Then this Nilla turns up and he settles himself down in a corner of the outbuilding for two weeks. We set the dog on him and he just laughs. Then he was gone and good riddance, too – I didn’t miss him a bit. Three days later, he drives his herd into the yard. Now we’ve got two kids and a third on the way. That’s my Nilla.

The exhibitions at the Arktikum tell about people’s way of life in the North throughout different eras. Naturally, there are plenty of tales and stories about things that have happened – and of course facts, even down to courting rituals and customs for finding a mate in the Arctic regions. Before and now.
