The glass hallway of Arktikum is illuminated with blue lights, and 100 ice lanterns are lit in the front square of Arktikum. The hallway will remain illuminated for the entire December, up until the 6th of January 2018.
On the same day, a new exhibition called “Petsamo – Finland on the coast of the Arctic ocean” by the Lapland regional museum will be opened for public in Arktikum. There are free guided tours to the exhibition in Finnish at 12 and 14 o’clock. At other times there’s museum staff at the scene, giving more information on the exhibition.
In addition there will be a free tour in Finnish around the Sincerely Yours –exhibition in art gallery Valo at 1pm. Curator Henna Harri will be discussing the artwork with the artists.
Arktikum was opened to public on the Finnish independence day in 1992, to honor the 75-year-old Finland.

Rovaniemi Theatre, Korundi House of Culture, Arktikum and Science Centre Pilke are at your service at the Lordi Square the whole December. Culture is Cool-booth is open from Mon-Fri from 4pm to 8pm and on weekends from 12pm to 6 pm. The booth is closed on 6th of December and on 24th -25th of December 2018. From the booth you can buy tickets to the Christmas Story theatre show and family culture pass – combination ticket to Korundi, Arktikum and Pilke exhibitions.
The Finnish independence day marks 25 years from the day Arktikum was first opened to public. On the jubilee anniversary, 6th of December all exhibitions are free of charge from 10am to 6pm, and the first 2000 visitors get a free Arktikum reflector.
